It's such a cool phenomenon that Brussels is home to so many different running crews and clubs. One of my ambitions is to run with each of them and portrait all of them.
The first challenge I am facing is to get a good overview of the different crews. Who are they, when do they meet, from where do they start, and what will the distance and pace be?
Now I am thinking of all the beautiful runners in our city: They also face the challenge of keeping track of all the different social running possibilities in a given week.
Can you do a social run every day of the week? Can you incorporate your training runs with social runs, when you feel like company? That's what I want to find out, and more importantly, I want to make it easy.
The social running calendar
The first version of it is live now. You find it at the top right under Social Running Calendar.

What's in it for the runners?
As a runner you will find all social runs taking place in Brussels for a given week (as far as I can keep track). You'll be able to add the ones you want to participate in to your calendar. You can find the meet-up location via a link to Google Maps.
What's in it for the run crew organizers?
As an organizer of run crew runs you can provide your community with another easy way to find your runs. You can see how your own runs fit into the grander Brussels runner's scene. You may find opportunities to get in touch and collaborate together.
How to get onboard?
In the soft-launch phase of the Social Running Calendar, I am scanning Strava and other sources to find out when your runs are. In order to make it sustainable, it would be awesome if you as a crew would add your runs yourself - I am providing an easy backend application for that.
Just sign up and leave a note which crew you represent - I will then give you access to the backend tool with a short introduction on how to use it.
Let's build something cool for the local running community, together
I would like to make this an awesome experience for all running crews and most importantly, for all the amazing runners that make Brussels such a livable, vibrant space (and maybe, at some point, other cities, too).
